Writer's Relic Necklace with Labradorite

This necklace is part of a collection called "The Writer". The collection is a work in progress and is based on the theme of writing.

This necklace features a sterling silver piece of torn paper made with lost wax casting techniques. The "paper" started as a sheet of wax which I textured with actual text about the definition of ART. I then tore the sheet of wax up into smaller pieces for irregular torn page type edges and cast it myself in sterling silver.

The metal "paper" pendant measures 3/4'' x 1'' and was oxidized to bring out the text. I added an 8mm faceted diamond shaped labradorite bead for some extra color. The bead has great bright "flash" with shocking blues and greens.

The pendant hangs from an oxidized sterling silver 18'' figure eight chain with a lobster clasp.

*This necklace has a "sister" piece torn from the same wax page that had a long richly colored iolite briolette. The sister necklace was in a gallery show and a special artist feature during a black tie event.

HUGS,
Cait
